Everyday utilitarian jumpsuit meant to be your new uniform. The Ripley was inspired by a vintage mens military jumpsuit that we felt needed an update for a more flattering fit. Wear the Ripley for your hardest days work or throw on a belt and heels and dress her up for a casual night out.

[Story + Why there is no plus size]
For many years, Stacy wore a much loved vintage jumpsuit on our biggest of work days. Think expensive outdoor photoshoots, all day set up for tradeshows, fittings with multiple size models, days designed to crush you like a soda can. And yet, there she was at days end looking like she could go for another 24 hours. Was it the jumpsuit or the woman, no one will ever know. We decided we must bring this magic to our beloved customers via this jumpsuit. If you have been around for a while you might have noticed that we haven’t made a jumpsuit in a very long time because the fit is seriously complex. Nonetheless, we had seen this suit go so hard for so long, we threw caution to the wind and embarked on the Ripley jumpsuit
Fast forward 2 years later and the jumpsuits are just now arriving at our roll up door. Why so long you ask, especially when you had a solid sample to start from?
We decided this would be the project to work vertically integrated. We partnered with an amazing certified B corporation in Peru where they grow the cotton, mill the fabric, sew and dye the goods. We visited them in Peru, broke bread with them in SF and set sail on the suit. We committed to complete the project.
And when you commit overseas that means you put down a hefty deposit for the project so they can order your fabric. In Peru, this means you give them 30% upfront and 70% on delivery of the shipment. We had already deeply committed to the project when we ordered the extended sizes and soon realized they were not working. We did fittings, called meetings, called Patternmaker’s and eventually sampled the jumpsuit 8 times over the span of a year and half. We pushed the project out from fall 2023. Many rounds of fit in 2024 we still weren’t happy with the fit from 2X-4X despite fitting and refitting. Our fit models agreed the fit wasn’t quite right yet. Then our partners let us know how negatively the project was affecting them if we kept pushing out the timeline. Sewers were waiting and time was allocated to do the project, and delaying the project was causing trouble for them in a difficult financial year for their team.
I’ll save the four letter words but this jumpsuit was not feeling so magical.
We really pondered this - our mission is to make our garments up to 4X but our core value is to always make things we know and believe in. With the feedback of our exceptional fit models, we decided it was best not to put out a suit that didn’t fit our extended sizes well. They deserve better. We also chose not to screw over our partners. So we compromised and proceeded to make the order XS-XL to test the powers of this suit. This would allow us extra time to perfect the sizes without the added pressure.
Since we love silver linings and need them to move forward, we did learn a lot of invaluable lessons. The most important being we will never go overseas with something if we don’t get the fit perfect on all the sizes here. It reinforced to us how much working close to home, suits our style where we can take as long as we want to finish projects and shut down ones easily that aren’t working.
So thats our very long explanation of why the suit only comes XS-XL.
